  •  Belmont Stakes Party

Another fun filled night with high stakes betting, pretty ladies in Derby Hats, delicious food and of course, the exciting draw for the 2011 foal by Iceburg! Thanks to two of our Social Members, Cathy Protro & Jeanne Caldwell who had the difficult task of judging the ladies derby hat competition. After much deliberation and discussion amongst the judges, it was decided that Shari Barna was to be our first place winner, followed by Linda Townsend & Cathy Goulard tied for second, and Melanie Rand in third. You can see this beautiful display of hats by viewing video from the evening!  Thanks also to Jenny Johnston, this  years bookie, for a job well done, and Judy & Gerry for hosting this event at beautiful Rollicking Horse Ranch.

  • Jumper Training Show

Sunday, Sept. 11th, the AVH held it's very first Jumper Training Show at Karen King's beautiful venue, Loyal Hill Farm in Summerville. In the past, the club has hosted various events & dressage show's, so this was breaking ground for us. Proceeds, as with all AVH fundraisers, went entirely toward the care, feeds & needs of our wonderful hounds. We were blessed with perfect weather, great courses, awesome volunteers, and almost 70 entries to make the day. Class heights ranged from crossrails to 1.15 meters. Signature classes included a "Crossrails Derby For Fossils"), which was great fun to watch! One of our very own, "Julia Cechetto took home first place on her daughter Erryn's pony - great ride Julia!  The "Ride in Syle" equitation class was won by Eric Pace, a former AVH junior member. Over $2000 in prize money and beautiful prizes, was awarded to our many champions during the day. Thanks to our very generous sponsors including Avon Animal Hospital, Bayer, Pfizer, Boehringer & Intervet Veterinary Pharmaceutical companies, Greenhawk Equestrian & McPhee Auto Leasing. We hope to make this an annual even.          click here to see our prize list
